Shivamogga district administration has planned several events to mark the 75 years of Indian independence as part of the 'Mah Amrit Mahotsava'.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Anuradha held a meeting with officials on Wednesday to conduct meaningful programs across the district. The administration will organize events related to the freedom struggle at the places where the conflict has been witnessed. Every month, a district-level program will be organized. The places chosen are Esur, Baligwe, Shivappanayaka Palace, Nagra Fort, Kavalderga Fort, Kuppali, Mahatma Gandhi Park, and Arasalu.
There will be an event on 13 April in Esur. A similar event will be held on 18 May at the Shivappanayaka Palace. An event will be held in Arasalu on 10 June, and a program in Shivamogga on 5 July.
A program to commemorate the Quit India Movement will be held on 9 August at Mahatma Gandhi Park in Shivamogga. A group of students will be trekking in Kavaldegur on 5 September. A program will be organized on the role of women in the freedom movement. On 27 October at Nagra Fort, while another on 14 November will be held at Kuppali in Tirthahalli taluk.
